Selection tree and shaft-end machining
The selector carries 431 catalogued records and handles four calculations directly:
Enter your target hours, work back to the dynamic load rating Ca you need, then filter models by Ca. That is far more reliable than selecting by diameter. Remember the cube law: 26% more load halves the life.
Critical speed depends on shaft diameter, length and support arrangement — not on load:
Run this check above roughly 1 m of stroke or 1000 rpm.
F is axial load, Ph the lead and η efficiency (above 0.9 for ball screws). A larger lead means more torque for the same load and higher speed — lead is essentially trading torque for speed.
The model table is ordered by diameter, lead, circulation type and ball-turn count. Naming equivalences worth knowing:
The tool covers standard duty, but send us the parameters for these cases:
It carries 431 catalogued records checked against the MOSIONX catalog. For unusual duty or non-standard shaft ends, ask us to review it as well.
Lead trades torque for speed: a larger lead feeds faster at the same rpm but needs more torque; a smaller lead gives finer resolution and lower speed. Fix cycle time and motor speed first, then work back to lead.
Do not decide on life alone. Check critical speed, buckling and axial stiffness too; those usually become the limit before life does.
It can drop when power is removed, so it needs a brake or a self-locking arrangement, and buckling must be checked. Have us review it before ordering.
